Situated on the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty close to the coast, Louth is the largest market town in the District of East Lindsey. The town pre-dates Roman times and today has a population of 16000 people. It also serves an outlying area of some 12000 people who come into town to enjoy shopping, recreational and leisure activities.
There is a good mix of social and affordable housing on new developments, a choice of schools, a swimming pool, a county hospital, transport links and community facilities. The provision of services for young people and ongoing development of the area to create employment opportunities are priorities for the District Council. Heritage preservation, regeneration schemes and strong environmental and recycling policies contribute to the town’s personality.
Local initiatives encourage businesses to link into vocational training schemes and programmes, particularly in respect of employment opportunities and careers for young people.
